What We Do

For over 14 years, we’ve been fulfilling our mission of providing essential services that remove barriers, strengthen families and promote healing when children need healthcare.

Ronald McDonald House

Our Canberra House located inside the Centenary Women’s & Children’s Hospital provides a ‘home away from home’ to over 180 local & regional families each year.

Offering a homely and inviting place for families to stay while their newborn baby, seriously ill or injured child is undergoing treatment in hospital.

Ronald McDonald Family Room

Located at the Centenary Hospital for Women & Children Canberra, our Ronald McDonald Family Room is a free, comfortable, and welcoming space within the hospital, designed for families of children receiving medical care to relax, recharge, and connect with their loved ones

Ronald McDonald Family Retreat

There’s nothing more valuable than spending quality time as a family. Our Ronald McDonald House Family Retreat in the beautiful and peaceful Batemans Bay give families with an ill or injured child, or those grieving the loss of a child, the opportunity to take a break and spend some much needed time together.

Our Hospitality Cart &
Local Programs

Our Hospitality Cart is packed with toys, colouring in books and other goodies to keep children entertained while they are in Canberra Hospital. The cart also provides families with a range of items including snacks, refreshments and personal items. Being on wheels, the carts can bring practical support and comfort to families right at the doorway of their child’s hospital room free of charge.

Our Learning Program & Charlie Bell Scholarship

Ill or injured children have enough to deal with, they shouldn’t have to worry about falling behind at school too. We help up to 1,200 students on any given week catch up on missed education, keeping their minds engaged and making the return to school less stressful. Plus, our EDMed Program helps ensure teachers are well equipped to support ill or injured children returning to school.

Acknowledgement of Country

RMHC ACT & SE NSW acknowledges the Ngunnawal People as Traditional Custodians of the lands, skies and waterways on which we work.  We recognise the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples amongst the families we care for, our employees volunteers and supporters. We pay our respects to them and their Elders past and present.
